Wilma Roberts

Wilma Berends Roberts, of Hillcrest Dr., died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Wendover Hosipce after a very brief illness. She was born in Chase Co. Kansas, a daughter of the late Harry and Maude L. Odle Berends. Wilma attended Chase County Schools and was a graduate of Emporia State Teachers College now Emporia State University, Emporia, KS. She married her late husband Paul Craig Roberts in Topeka, KS and they moved to Cherryville in 1957. She was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers in 1990 and was a longtime and faithful member of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Roberts found great pleasure in doing genealogy research along with her late sister Carol Tyner.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Craig Roberts; son, Larry Craig Roberts; sister, Carol Tyner; grandson, Lamar C. Roberts; and brother in law, Alvin Tyner.

Survivors include her sister, Margery L. Berends of Alva, OK; sister-in-law, Evelyn Sabettie, of Cherryville; grandchildren, Craig Roberts and Carrie Dymesick and husband, John of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 1:00-1:45 PM.
