William "Bill" Rawlins

William “Bill” Herbert Rawlins, Jr., age 77, of Cherryville, passed away on June 5, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on June 17, 1946, in Gaston County, to the late William Herbert Rawlins, Sr. and Grace Roberson. Bill was a gardener and had a green thumb. He enjoyed growing muscadines and tomatoes. He was a hard worker who would work even if he was sick. Bill worked in the yard for Carolina Freight for many years. He was also a Veteran of the United States Navy.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Reagan Rawlins; children, James “Jimmy” William Rawlins, Shannon Nicole Rawlins Leadford (Kenny), and Michael Brandon Rawlins; sisters, Juanita Klostermeyer, and Brenda Poythress; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

A Gathering of Friends was held at the Rawlins’ residence to honor the memory of Bill.
