William Bame

October 27, 1929 — April 3, 2013

William Hoy Bame, age 83, of 405 Kings Drive, died April 3, 2013 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Bill was born in Rowan County on October 27, 1929 a son of the late Hoy Adam and Flora Brown Bame. He served in the U.S. Navy in Korea, retired electrician from Carolina Freight Carriers with 34 years of service, a member of Masonic Lodge # 505 A.F.& A.M. , American Legion Post 100, VFW and a member of First Baptist Church where he was in the "Dub" Beam Sunday school class.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Max Bame.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Jane Newton Bame of the home, two sons Ben Terry Bame and wife Margaret of Cherryville, Rev. David Hoy Bame and wife Lisa of Mill Spring, a daughter Renee Stroupe and husband Bobby of Cherryville, Seven grandchildren, Stephanie Queen, Benjy Bame, Kristen Falls, Garrett Stroupe, Candace Mayhew, Timothy Bame and Karen Bame, seven great grandchildren, two sisters Matilda Wilkie of Cherryville and Brenda Ashley, Faith NC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery with full military rites and Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 11:30 - 12:45 at the church prior to the service.
