Walter Mcneely

Walter Alexander McNeely, age 81, of Hull Rd died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his residence. He was born on October 23, 1932 in Cleveland County, a son of the late Bryson and Maggie Justice McNeely. He was a member of North Brook Baptist Church and Pine Grove Golf Course. Walt enjoyed gardening, shooting pool, playing golf, bowling, and fishing. He was retired from Doran Textile and Ester Mill in Shelby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Alma Elizabeth Houser McNeely; son, Larry McNeely (Nancy) of Lincolnton; daughters, Linda Ledford (Tommy), Jane Homesley (Amos P. III), and Wanda Black (Mike) all of Cherryville; sister, Mary Sutton (George) of Cherryville; grandchildren, Tracy Ledford (LaDonna) of Vale, Brandy Ledford of Cherryville, and Nikki Zammarelli (Ed) of Cherryville; step-grandchild, Dale Ledford (Jamey) of Cherryville; great-grandchildren, Morgan Silver, Chase Silver, Gracie Ledford, Olivia Ledford, and Zoie Costner; and step-great-grandchild, Dale Ledford, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 4:00 PM at North Brook Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Pennell and Rev. Bob Wise officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:45 prior to the service at the church.
