Virginia Spainhour

Virginia Louise Hines Spainhour, age 80 of Academy St. died November 19, 2013 at Brian Center in Gastonia. She was born on June 10, 1933 in Forsyth County, a daughter of the late Leonard and Eunice Hunter Hines. Virginia was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was formerly employed as a file clerk for Wachovia for 10 years and Thurston in Charlotte for 20 years.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Richard Allan Spainhour; and a daughter, Leona Sue "Susie" Garrison.

Survivors include her children, Nancy Spencer and husband, Keith of Lovingston, VA, Melinda Atkinson of Huntersville, Mary Elizabeth Neal of Gastonia, Charles Edward Spainhour and wife, Nancy of Rockwell, Laura Hoover and husband, Robert of Conneautville, PA, and Christopher Spainhour of Mt. Airy; sister, Patty Jenkins and husband, Ralph of Asheville; brothers, Fred Hines and wife, Maxine, and Walter Hines and wife, Elaine both of Asheville; five grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston Salem.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that you honor the memory of Virginia with memorial donations to 1st United Methodist Church, 601 North Pink Street, Cherryville, NC 28021.
