Tony "Ronnie" Gantt

Tony Ronald “Ronnie” Gantt, age 77, of Cherryville, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. He was born August 19, 1946, in Cleveland County to the late Howard Joe Gantt, Sr. and Helen Sue Heavner Gantt.

Ronnie was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers where he worked as a recapper for many years. Ronnie loved to cook and to eat. He loved Christmas, spending time with his family, and spoiling his great-grandchildren. Ronnie also enjoyed dancing and watching western movies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Gantt.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jackie Jo Bridges Gantt; sons, Todd Jeffery Gantt (Dana) and Brian Jason Gantt; brother, Howard “Jr.” Gantt (Bobbie Jean); sister, Sandy Crawley; grandchildren, Casey Glover (Josh), and Tyler “Smooth” Gantt (Kristin); three great-grandchildren, Raelie, Reed, and Olivia; special child, Amber Grace; and his dog, Duke.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 until 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at the City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services.
