Terry "Bud" Burton Black, age 63, of Mauney Farm Road, died October 25, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born in Lincoln County on October 21, 1950, the son of the late Alfred Burton and Mildred Cook Black. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cherryville. Terry was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Hunter Douglas Manufacturing. He was a graduate of Belmont Abbey, an Eagle Scout, and formerly employed by Boy Scouts of America.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin brother, Jerry Black.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Patricia Black of York, SC; aunt, Mozelle Cook of Cherryville; cousins, Ronnie Cook (Linda) of Cherryville, Steve Boyles of Lawndale, Ann Mahin of Oregon, Dr. Larry Boyles of Hickory, Susan Miller (George) of Raleigh, and Carol Anderson of Wake Forest; and special friends, Bob and Barbara Wylie of Cherryville, Sonny and Jeanne Homesley of Kings Mountain, and Susie Jackson of Cherryville.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating and full military rites performed by American Legion Post #100 Honor Guard. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Legion Post #100 Honor Guard C/O Charles Brown, 137 Mozelle Rd, Cherryville, NC 28021.
