Sybil Flinn

Sybil Ann Simmons Flinn, age 79 of Cherryville, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare System - Lincoln. She was born January 9, 1939 in Stokes County to the late Otis Bunyon and Artis Mae Mabe Simmons. Sybil was formerly employed with Hanes Hosiery, Lindley Photo, and Home Instead. She was a hard worker, enjoyed flowers, and adored her family. She was an avid college basketball fan always rooting for whomever could beat Duke. Sybil had attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church and loved spending time at the Senior Citizen's Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tricia Melia Flinn Walls; former husband, Kenneth Flinn; and siblings, June Simmons, Leonard Simmons, Larry Simmons, and Elizabeth Reich.

Survivors include her children, Tim Flinn and wife, Janice of Winston-Salem and Tonya Wright and husband, John of Cherryville; grandchildren, Rachel Flinn and Eli Flinn; brother, Stan Simmons and wife, Judy of Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Pastor Doug Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Wright Creek Farm. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
