Sybil Allen

Sybil Ann Black Allen, age 69, of Cherryville, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, at her residence.  She was born April 9, 1953 in Lincoln County to the late Thomas Woodrow Black and Nora Bright Hullet Swink.  She retired from Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation.  Sybil enjoyed reading, especially Nicholas Sparks novels.  She loved planting flowers and spending time with her family.  She adored all her children, grandkids, great-grandkids, and the granddog, Rowdy.  They were her world and they will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Edison Allen; son, Jerry Wayne Curtis, Jr.; brother-in-law, Kenneth Forrester; and stepdaughter, Donna Kerpatrick.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Marley of Vale (Richard Marley of Gastonia); sons, Dale Curtis of Cherryville and Tony Curtis of Lincolnton; stepchildren, Donald Allen (Dana), Roger Allen (Kathy), Rhonda Greene (David), Linda Allen (Brian), and Myra Cline; grandchildren, Richard Marley Jr. (Kelley Harmony), Heidi Sargent (Kenny), Isaiah Tilley, Madison Marley (Thomas Willinger), Alex Curtis, Joseph Curtis, and Amber O’Neal (and her four children); great grandchildren, Dresden and Aura Marley, Richard Dean Marley III, and Edison, Isaac, and Graham Sargent; granddog, Rowdy; brothers, Jeff Black (Brenda) and Woodrow Junior Black (Ann); sister, Tammy Forrester; niece and nephews, Heather Carswell, Tony Forrester, and Scott Black; and special friend, Sheila Huff.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 13, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Arnold Douthit officiating.  Burial will be private.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 to 12:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
