Stephen Jenkins

Stephen Daniel “Steve” Jenkins, age 49, of Requa Road, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his residence. He was born March 20, 1973 in Gaston County to Dan Jenkins and Judy Landers Lackey.

Steve enjoyed woodworking and building cabinets. He also enjoyed fishing, playing baseball, basketball, and football. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and UNC Tarheels fan.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Adam Ray Lackey; paternal grandparents, Grady and Paulene Jenkins; maternal grandparents, Hillard and Elizabeth Lackey, and Raymond and Jo Helen Landers.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lutz Jenkins; parents, Judy Landers Lackey (Thomas), and Dan Jenkins (Janell); children, Alex Jenkins, Josh Lutz, Dre Jeffries, Cletus Jeffries, Amie Jenkins, and Amber Knox; brothers, Wesley Lackey (Ashley), and Clay Jenkins; sister, Sarah Jenkins Blackburn (Michael) sister-in-law, Kim Lackey; nephews and niece, Austin Lackey, Caydelin Lackey, and Mason Lackey.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at North Brook Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Wise officiating.

His family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow at North Brook Baptist Church Cemetery.
