Ruth Weaver

August 11, 1928 — March 7, 2018

Sarah Ruth Whitley Weaver, 89, born August 11, 1928 went to be with her Lord and Savior and to join her husband of 57 years Joe Nixon on March 7, 2018. Ruth was an active member of Concord United Methodist Church her entire life until her health declined. She was a resident of Brian Center Lincolnton where she was loved and cared for by all and enjoyed her last years. Her proudest accomplishment was always her family. Ruth was a strong woman who showed kindness, generosity, and love as Christ taught without reservation, even when it was difficult. Her life outside the home included working at Rauch Industries, working at Weaver Dairy, and she excelled at a CNA course so she could care better for her extended family, a talent she had that was truly God given.

She is survived by her devoted family, daughters, Lynda Weaver and Mary Anne Hurst, son-in-law, Jeff Hurst, granddaughters, Erin Hurst Upchurch and husband, Will, and Emily Lauren Hurst and fiancé, David Whitaker, who were a constant presence in her life. Also surviving are sons, Dennis and Becky Weaver and David and Janet Weaver; and grandchildren, Angela, Marcia, Nicole, Jeremiah, and Yvette with their families.

A graveside service will be held at Smyrna Cemetery, Hwy 274, Bessemer City at 11:30 AM March 10. Family and friends may pay respects following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord United Methodist Church, 2404 Tryon Courthouse Rd. Bessemer City, NC 28016.
