Ruby Devine Harden Phillips, age 96, formerly of E. Academy St. passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Carolina Care Health & Rehabilitation. She was born August 12, 1922 in Gaston County to the late Enoch Martin and Lola Bright Whitworth Devine. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Ruby retired after 33 years from Medical Center Pharmacy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Loraine Harden; brother, Hilbert Devine; sister, Marsel Allen; and daughter-in-law, Chella Harden.
Survivors include her children, Milton L. Harden, Nancella Martin and husband, Joe, Jan Boone and husband, Ed, and Guy Ann Summer and husband, Oren; sister, Nancy Moss; special friend, Joe Phillips; grandchildren, Lynn Huss, Lisa Miller, Christy Johnson, Michelle Bingham, Tracy Martin, Marie Schoen, Grayson Boone, and Kaleigh Boone; great grandchildren, Justin Black, Lyndsey Johnson, Sydney Schoen, Carson Schoen, and Harper Grace Schoen; great-great grandchildren, Jaxson Black and Jaida Mobley; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
