Roberta Henry Metzgar

Roberta “Birdie” June Henry Metzgar, age 89, of Gaston County, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, at Peak Resources of Cherryville. She was born June 12, 1935, in Palmyra, PA to the late Earl and Ruth Malfare Henry. Roberta enjoyed playing the piano and singing at church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Melvin Schmoyer, and Ammon Metzgar; sons, Rick Schmoyer, Brian Schmoyer, and one infant son; sister, Betty Ellinger; and one infant brother.

Survivors include her children, Randy Schmoyer (Deborah), Darla Stone (John); Melvin Schmoyer, Jr. (Michelle); and Kevin Schmoyer; siblings, Doris Geib, Gloria Gardner, Gail Boyton, Darlene Miller, Melody Alleman, Edward Henry, and Sandy Bender; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Her ashes will be buried at Spring Creek Cemetery in Hershey, PA, with her mother.
