Richard James Marazza, II, age 61, of Killingdeer Lane, passed away Wednesday March 18, 2020 at Atrium Health, Pineville. He was born July 24, 1958 in Gaston County to Shirlee Davis Allen Marazza and the late Richard “Dick” James Marazza, Sr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by the recent passing of his first wife Susan Marazza.
Richard grew up in the small town of Cherryville, where he enjoyed an ideal youth playing baseball and drumming in a rock band. Later in life he continued to enjoy music and play golf. His favorite football team was always the Clemson Tigers, for whom his father Dick played as an offensive lineman. As an adult, he went on to participate as an early employee at the engineering and surveying company ESP Associates, where he spent thirty-five years, most of them as their IT manager. Though he could make friends anywhere he went thanks to his quick sense of humor and genuine integrity, Richard was first and foremost a family man. Surrounded by women for most of his life, he was more sensitive than he let on, and knew exactly when to crack a joke or lend a shoulder to cry on. He will be great missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 17 years, Janice Harbour-Marazza; mother, Shirlee Davis Allen Marazza; daughters, Marina Marazza, Shellie Marazza, and Anna Harbour; granddaughter, Katelyn; sister, Shana Dease (Jeff); in-laws Phil, Sandy, Jeff, and Jerry; nephews and nieces, Caleb, Jared, Carson, and Emma.
DUE TO THE EXECUTIVE ORDER FROM THE GOVERNOR OF NC, A private memorial service will be held at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. You can click on the link below to donate in Richard's memory.
