Richard Heckert

Richard (Dick) Glenn Heckert, 61 of Cherryville NC died September 30, 2013 at home. He was born in Chicago, IL in 1952 and then moved to Fairport, NY with his family in 1965 where he attended Fairport High School.

He was previously employed by FMC Corp. in both Middleport, NY and in Princeton, NJ. He moved to NC with his family 16 years ago when his wife was transferred and was currently working part-time as a contractor at FMC in in Bessemer City. He was an avid collector, especially of NASCAR die-cast and his pride and joy was restoring his 1965 Pontiac GTO.

His survivors include his wife of 25 years Ruth Anna Heckert, a son William (Bill) Heckert, both of Cherryville; his mother Marilyn Heckert-Hamme of Rush, NY, a sister Nancy Meers and husband Dominick and his niece Nicole of Sorrento, FL. He was preceded in death by his father Shephen Heckert.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be announced at a later time, since his wife is currently battling leukemia.
