Peggy Mitchell

Peggy Wren Bumgarner Mitchell, age 81, of Summer's Place, died February 12, 2013 at her residence. Little "G" as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was born in Alexander County December 7, 1931, a daughter of the late James Horace and Bertha Lou Orren Bumgarner. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, adored aunt, loving grandmother and a member of First United Methodist Church. Peggy also enjoyed birds, flowers, plants, all animals and quilting.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by ten late brothers and sisters "Tump", Teddy, Jack, and George Bumgarner, Rachel Chapman, Kitty Sue Barnes, Gayenelle Watts, June Keever, Ruby Deal, and Marchetta Bumgarner. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Archie Mitchell, two daughters Deborah Lou Mitchell of Morganton, Lori Ann Williams and Dean of Boone, grandchildren Sarah Elizabeth Geist and husband Brandon Charleston, SC and Jessie Lauren Davis of Farmville, VA, sister, Frances Shoe of Kannapolis, sister in law Jackie Bumgarner of Taylorsville and a brother in law Loyd Keever, of Taylorsville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Fite officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
