Paul Edward Sigmon, 83, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Carolina Care Center. Paul was born in Cherryville, NC on April 28, 1931, a son of the late Rufus Eugene and Vida Mauney Sigmon. He retired from Carolina Freight Carriers after 31 years. Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, J.T. Sigmon and Harold Sigmon; sisters, Elsie Sigmon, Christine Sigmon Brown, and Meredith Sigmon Moore; sisters-in-law, Betty Sigmon and Pat Sigmon; brother-in-law, Gary Moore; nieces, Suzanne Sigmon and Meleia Garcia; and nephew, Jeff Brown.
Paul is survived by a son, Pal Sigmon; daughter, Jody Honeycutt and husband, Tim and grandson, Harlee of China Grove; sister, and brother-in-law, Patricia and Larry Schubert of Charlotte; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Becky Sigmon, Bill Sigmon, Martel Sigmon all of Cherryville, Dennis Sigmon of Weatherford, TX, and Jimmie and Deanne Sigmon of Lincolnton; sisters-in-law, Marie Sigmon and Dot Sigmon of Cherryville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM at City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Billy T. Lowe and Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at Carpenter's Funeral & Cremation Services.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 107 W. Academy St. Cherryville, NC 28021 (Building Fund) or the choice of the donor.
