Nell Scism

Nell Shytle Scism, 88, of Moss St., died January 17, 2015 at her residence. She was born on Aug. 17, 1926 in Rutherford Co., a daughter of the late Jerry Edgar and Madge Blanton Shytle.

Nell was a longtime member of Waco Baptist Church and a nursing cadet in her younger years. Mrs. Scism was a retired RN nursing supervisor with 44 years of services at Cleveland Regional Medical Center and a graduate of Gardner Webb University nursing program. She loved her nursing career and had a passion for being a care giver.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband C. L. Scism in 2006, a daughter Marie Sigmon, a grandson, and a brother Gerald Shytle.

Survivors include her children Gale Elmore (Don), Shelia Beam (Larry), Madge Jones (Allen) all of Waco, Dale Scism (Debra) and Forest Scism (Vickie) both of Fallston, twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Waco Baptist Church at noon with Rev. Harold Fite and Len Byers officiating with burial in Capernaum Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home.
