Nancy Wilson

Nancy Jessie Hord Wilson, age 101, of 568 Westwood Lane, Taylorsville, NC formerly of Cherryville died January 8, 2015 at Catawba Valley Living, Claremont. Mrs. Wilson was born in Cleveland County, May 5, 1913 a daughter of the late Edmond Washington and Lillie Hord Hord. She was an educator and leader of young minds for 30 years in the Cherryville and Lincolnton school systems. Mrs. Wilson was a member of First Baptist Church in Taylorsville, and former member of First Baptist Church, Cherryville where she was a former Sunday school teacher.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Phil Wilson, a brother, J.D. Hord and a sister, Estelle Ware.

Survivors include her daughter Jane Wilson Yount and husband Gerald of Taylorsville, granddaughter, Julia Yount Brown and husband Terry of North Andover, MA, grandson, Jake Yount and wife Vanessa of Mebane, great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lydia and Jonathan Brown and Claira Jane and Tate Wilson Yount.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Perry Holleman officiating. Burial will be private at Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery, Shelby. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 - 1:45 PM.
