Myrtle Mcabee

Myrtle Tate McAbee, age 93 of Cherryville passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Peak Resources in Gastonia. She was born October 22, 1924 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Mattie Johnson Tate. Myrtle was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was an excellent homemaker and loved sewing, canning, and baking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wilburn McAbee; sons, Henry McAbee and Wilburn McAbee; daughters, Jacquline McAbee and Janice Vathanasombat; and numerous siblings.

Survivors include her daughters, Brenda McAbee of Dallas and Christine Sturgis of Aikens, SC; daughter-in-law, Julie Stewart; grandchildren, Connie and Lee Grant, Pam Self, Lisa Lankford, Richard McAbee, Ginger Vathanasombat, Chrissy Sturgis, and DC Sturgis; great grandchildren, Lisa Hannon, Brittany Cribb and husband, Justin, Lena, Michael, Carson, Brooke, Ashley, and Nathaniel; great great grandchildren, Sophia Cribb, Landon Spivey, and Daniel Wooten; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Jones officiating.
