Mary Neal Sain, age 92 of Harmon Road, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville. She was born September 16, 1927 in Lincoln County, to Dorse and Julia Cook Neal. She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church for more than 70 years. She also attended Community Grove Church. Mary loved to crochet and made many afghans for her family and friends. She loved gardening and working with flowers. Mary loved children and worked for several years with Maryvale Sister’s Convent and New Vision Daycare. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting the mountains and the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Webb Sain; and siblings, Charlie Neal, Ruth Williams, Junie Lester Neal, Warren Neal, J.B. Neal, Warlick Neal, Pauline Heavner, Carl Neal, and Prue Thornburg.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Nancy “Cookie” Hendricks (Fred) of Lincolnton, and Vickie Richards of Lincolnton; special grandson, Jason Smith; granddaughters, Julie Sigmon (Ronnie), and Brandy Davis (Wayne); great-grandchildren, Ronnie, Justin, Destiny, Eliza, and Leland; great-great-grandchildren, Christopher, and Julius; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 6, 2020 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Woody, Pastor Michael Cook, and Pastor Jim Mathews officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
