Mary Poston

Mary Estelle McElveen Poston, age 85 of Cherryville, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born July 5, 1938, in Sumter County, South Carolina to the late Henry and Bessie Capel McElveen.  She was a member of The Church of God.  Mary enjoyed going out to dinner with her friends and she was loved by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Poston; and brothers, Junior McElveen and Johnny McElveen.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne Poston of Cherryville, Lewis Poston (Ellen) of Belwood, Jimmy Poston (Terry) of Crouse, and Michael Poston (Carolyn) of Casar; daughter, Felisha Dellinger (Mike) of Sumter, SC; brother, Ray McElveen; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a handful of very special friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 12:00 to 12:40 pm at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.  A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Lyles officiating and a family eulogy given by son-in-law, Mike Dellinger.
