Mary Ann Griffin Waldroup

Mary Ann Griffin Waldroup, age 71, of Bessemer City, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024, at her residence. She was born July 20, 1953, in Gaston County, to the late James Ervin and Louise Hardin Griffin. Mary Ann loved to garden and plant flowers, particularly roses. She enjoyed cooking, and her family especially loved her banana pudding and blueberry muffins. Mary Ann also cherished spending time with her grandkids.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dale Waldroup, Sr.; and son-in-law, Michael Todd Freeman.

Survivors include her children, Melissa Ann Freeman, Larry Waldroup, Jr., and Melinda Waldroup; siblings, Donnie Griffin (Lou Ann), Richard Griffin, Patricia Moxley and Betty Jean Murray; grandchildren, Justin Freeman, Ashley Chasteen (Dustin), Larry Dale Waldroup III (Alyssa), James Tyler Waldroup (Madeline), James Connard (Megan), and Joshua Connard; and great-grandchildren; Annsleigh, Rylan, Corbin, James, Bentley, Gracey, Baby Waldroup, Waylon Dale, Lainey Mae, James Jr., Mackenzie, Anthony, and Margaret.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Independent Baptist Tabernacle. 

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 29, at 1:00 PM, at Independent Baptist Tabernacle, with Jimmy Carver and Rev. Brian Spargo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
