Marie Nestlerode

Marie Mauney Nestlerode, age 89, of Harrilson Road, died April 22, 2015 at her residence.
Marie was born July 21, 1925 in Gaston County to the late Floyd Lee and Lula Beam Mauney. Mrs. Nestlerode was a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she sang beautifully in the choir. She enjoyed traveling, had a great sense of humor, and was a devoted caregiver to her late mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Eugene Bookout; step daughter, Barbara McMahon; a step grandson; sister, Ruth E. Mauney; three brothers, Robert L. Mauney, Harold H. Mauney, Sr. and Ray D. Mauney, Sr.; and a step son-in-law Hugh Beam.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, John Nestlerode; children, Lavonne B. Robinson (Brian) of Cherryville, Melba B. Lawrence (Don) of Cherryville, Douglas Bookout (Toni) of New Orleans, LA, and Michael Bookout (Ronnie Nelson) of Hickory; step children, Patricia Beam of Shelby, Bruce Nestlerode (Aleta) of Blacksburg, Russell Nestlerode (Jean) of Shelby, Raymond Nestlerode (Brenda) of Shelby, and Pauline Weaver (Gary) of Shelby; step son-in-law, Hayden McMahon of Charlotte; grandchildren, Sharon Odell (Darrin) of Iron Station, and Kelly Wilson of Charlotte; and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother Joel Mauney (JoAnn), sister-in-laws Eloise Mauney of Cherryville, Marianna Mauney of Gainesville, GA, Margie B. Dellinger of Cherryville, Nancy B. Price of Cherryville and Betty B. Roberts of Shelby.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dale Hendricks officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 in the Family Life Center at the church prior to the service and other times at 108 Woodvale Drive, Cherryville.
