Maria Velazquez Meza

Maria Velazquez Meza, age 79, of Cherryville, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023, at her residence.  She was born December 22, 1943 in Mexico City, Mexico.  Maria was a member of St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church.  She was a long time employee of Buckeye Fire Equipment where she was a great coworker and friend.  She was a lovely mother who was kind and generous.  She enjoyed family reunions and spending time with her grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Velazquez; father, Jose Velazquez; mother, Aurelia Meza.

Survivors include her children, Arturo Gomez (Guillermina Alvarez), Apolina Gomez (Irma Badillo), Guadalupe Gomez (Jeronimo Lopez), Rosa Gomez (Greg Mauritz), Virginia  Gomez (Henry Klein), Alfredo Gomez (Noemi Luna), Adrian Gomez (Patricia Nava), Jaime Gomez (Michelle Gomez), and Ricardo Gomez (Matiana Jaimes); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.

Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church with Father David Miller presiding. 

Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.

Maria del Carmen Velazquez Meza, edad 79 anos, de Cherryville, fallecio Sadado 5 de Agosto de 2023 en su domicilio acompanada de sus familiares y seres quenidos.  Nacida el 22 de Diciembre de 1943 El pocito, Ciudad de Mexico su madre Aurelia Meza y su padre Jose Velazquez, ambos fallecidos.  Maria del Carmen atendia a la Iglesia Catolica Santa Dorotea en Lincolnton.

Carmen una Madre excelente una tia excepcional y sobre todo una Abuela Amorosa.

Le sobreviven sus hijos Arturo Gomez (Guillermina Alvarez), Apolina Gomez (Irma Badillo), Guadalupe Gomez (Jeronimo Lopez), Rosa Gomez (Greg Mauritz), Virginia  Gomez (Henry Klein), Alfredo Gomez (Noemi Luna), Adrian Gomez (Patricia Nava), Jaime Gomez (Michelle Gomez), and Ricardo Gomez (Matiana Jaimes); y un total de 35 nietos, 19 bisnietos y 3 tataranietos.

Los familiares recibira a sus amigos en la funeraria Carpenter-Porter en Cherryville, NC El Sabado Agosto 6 de 6a8pm.

La misa se llevara a cabo en la Iglesia Catholica St Dorothy’s en Lincolnton con El Sacerdote David Miller El Lunes Agosto 7 a las 11:00am.

El sepelio se realizara en el City Memorial Cemetery en Cherryville, NC.
