Margaret Rainwater

Margaret Mary Heffernan Rainwater, age 86 of North Jacob St., died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at her residence. She was born on June 7, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter of the late Joseph and Maude Murphy Heffernan. She and her late husband, Maxwell Norris Rainwater, Sr., were owners of Rainwater Furniture Company. She enjoyed reading and listening to music, and was a very gifted writer.

Survivors include her children, Maxwell Norris Rainwater, Jr. (Jan) of Cherryville, Doug Rainwater (Debbie) of Cherryville, Julie Dixon (Mark) of Lincolnton, and Robert Rainwater of Cherryville; sister Josephine Heffernan of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 3:00 PM at First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Mark B. Poe officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 Friday prior to the service at the church.
