Luis Alberto Santiago Diaz, age 68, of Lincolnton, passed away on October 17, 2024, at his home. Luis was born on October 31, 1955, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the late Máximo Santigo Alcázar and Angélica Diaz González.
Luis was a retired Army Veteran and served in Iraq. Luis also received the following commendations during his time in the Army: Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award) Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon Overseas Service Ribbon and Drill Sergeant Identification Badge. Luis was very proud of his Hispanic heritage. He was a NASCAR fan, and his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. Luis also enjoyed watching sports and his cheering on his team the Dallas Cowboys.
Survivors include his children, Lynn Santiago, Luis Santiago; Sister, Helga Santiago Diaz; Niece Michelle Pagan Santiago, Helga Pagan Santiago, Nephew; Christian P. Camacho Santiago.
A Visitation will be held at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home Monday, October 21, 2024 from 4:00-5:00 pm. Burial will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:45 am.
