Lillian Goode

Lillian Frances Abernathy Goode, age 80 of Myrtle School Rd passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born on November 25, 1935 in Gaston County to the late Edward Lee and Velma Hoyle Abernathy. Lillian was retired from Dora Yarn in Cherryville. She was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching the Food Network.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Goode; children, Brian, Jerry, and Michael Goode, and Lisa Moody; and siblings, Junior Abernathy, Jane Bradley, Doris Lanier, and Cindy Mellon.

Survivors include her children, Ronald Abernathy and wife, Diane of Cherryville, Jamie Goode of Gastonia, and Barbara Brackett of Lincolnton; son-in-law, Bobby Moody; siblings, Guy Abernathy, David Abernathy, and Diane Richards; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
