Lester Lee Heavner, age 79 of Lander's Chapel Rd, died Saturday, December 07, 2013, at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born in Gaston County on February 10, 1934, a son of the late Vonnie "Von" Lee and Nancy Moore Heavner. He was a member of Webb's Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Heavner was a veteran of the United Sates Army serving from 1952 to 1954. He was a charter member of the Crouse Fire Department and had retired from the furniture industry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Eddy Ray Heavner; brothers, Bob and J.B. Heavner; and sister, Margie Heavner.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Hazel Faye Cunningham Heavner; son, Ricky Lee Heavner of Conover; grandchildren, Eddy Shane Heavner, Jonathan Matthew Heavner, and Jason Lee Heavner and Mecca Whitesides Simmons (Tim); great-grandchildren, Brittany Renee Heavner, Harley Grace Heavner, Brogan Michele Heavner, Avery and Alex Simmons; daughter-in-law, Dawn Schrum; brother, James "Hap" Heavner of Lincolnton; sisters, Vivian Patterson Dellinger (Joe) of Cherryville, and Gladys Mauney of Bessemer City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday December 9, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Webb's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Spencer, Rev. Jerry Lail, and Rev. Rick Crouse officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Honor Guard Post #100. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:45 to 3:45 PM prior to the service at the church. Lester's precious son Eddy Ray Heavner's cremated remains will be buried alongside Lester at the gravesite.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Webb's Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3051 Gaston Webb's Chapel Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
