Leona Houser Bess, age 103, of Flay Road, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at Peak Resources of Cherryville. She was born April 7, 1917 in Lincoln County to the late Edward and Ardie Wells Houser.
Leona was a life-long member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Earl Bess; infant daughter, Glenda Sue Bess; siblings, Daniel “Bub” Houser, Dewey Houser, R.W. “Wood” Houser, Clay Houser, J.C. “Jay” Houser, Pearl Boyles, Lila Peeler, Mary Maney; and son-in-law, Frank Trifiletti.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Lynda Trifiletti, Phyllis and Bill Nantz; grandchildren, Anthony Trifiletti, Stan Nantz, Laura Trifiletti; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Paul Muller Jr.
Her family would like to thank both the staff of Peak Resources and Peak Resident, and best friend, Ann Brown for their love and care given to Mrs. Bess during her stay at Peak.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday October 18, 2020 at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randi Godfrey officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, face coverings and social distancing are required.
