Leon Kirby

Leon Wilkins Kirby, age 80 of Cherryville, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Cleveland Pines in Shelby.  He was born January 12, 1942, in Gaston County to the late Theodore Cleveland and Cora Mae Wilson Kirby.  Leon served in the National Guard and retired from Continental Tires of Charlotte after 29 years. He enjoyed surf fishing at the beach.  His great pride and joy were his granddaughters and he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clifford Kirby and Marvin Kirby; and sister, Kathleen Harrelson.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Lynn Doss Kirby; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Melissa Kirby; granddaughters, Summer Kirby and Autumn Kirby; and sister, Barbara Jean Haas.
