Lemuel Blair Gantt, age 91 of Laboratory Rd. passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his residence. He was born January 24, 1928 in Lincoln County to the late Clarence Eugene and Jina Mace Gantt. Blair was a member of Riverview Baptist Church for 45 years and a longtime Sunday School teacher. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 20 years. Mr. Gantt was a founding and charter member of Long Shoals VFD and a charter member of High Shoals VFD. He loved to be outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Ernie, and Gene Gantt; and a sister, Margie Hoyle.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wilma Tutherow Gantt; sons, Randy Gantt and wife, Sheila of Lincolnton and Doug Gantt and wife, Krista of Cherryville; brother, Wireman Gantt and wife, Ruby of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Christopher (De’Edrah) Gantt, David (Ashley) Gantt, Sonja (Dustin) Richardson, Melissa (Felipe) Rodriguez, Jonathan Gantt, and Sonia (J.T.) Baker; and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Riverview Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
