Kenneth Livingston Marks, age 87 of Lincolnton, passed away peacefully July 8, 2022 at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, NC. He was born March 14, 1935 in Olney, Maryland to the late William Burnell and Fanny Elizabeth (Young) Marks.
Kenneth “Ken” graduated with a B.S. in Transportation from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He served in the National Guard. Ken worked with Carolina Freight Carriers of Cherryville for many years and then for Lowe’s in N. Wilkesboro. He was active within the First United Methodist Church of Lincolnton and the Habitat for Humanity organization in his community.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Dellinger Marks, and brother William B. Marks, Jr. of Maryland.
He is survived by: children David Marks (Lisa), Kenneth Marks (Kathy), Elizabeth Gordon (Jim); stepchildren Cameron Valentine “Dane”, Vivette Valentine Leonhardt (Steve), and Velvet Valentine Champion (Tommy); and numerous grandchildren and step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be conducted at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cherryville, NC.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2022 at First United Methodist Church of Lincolnton with Rev. Dr. Tim Roberts officiating.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, medical teams, and the most wonderful caregivers in the world that guided and supported his final years!
