June McCollum Kirby, age 82, of 803 Woodhaven Street, passed away peacefully at her home in Cherryville surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Mrs. Kirby was born May 17, 1931. June was a member of First United Methodist Church, past Regent and active member of the Tyron Resolves Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution, teacher for the J. Ralph Beam, Jr., Sunday school class, member of Cherryville Garden Club, Oberlin Music Conservatory member, volunteer at J. Ralph Beam, Jr. Heritage Park, Lola Alran Circle member, member of the Florene Styles Sunday School Class, member of Book Club, organizer of Ashley High School Reunion Committee, Lunch Buddy at East Elementary School.
Preceded in death by her parents, one brother and sister.
Survivors include her husband the Honorable Judge, Robert W. Kirby, of the home. three sons, Robert Kirby, Jr. of Lenexa KS and his wife Vicki, Gregory Kirby of the home and Chris Kirby, Sr. and his wife Michelle of Newton, NC. Her pride and joy was her grandchildren, John Christopher, Jr., Taylor Ann, Patrick, William McCollum, Gregory Kevin Jr., Anna Grace and Emily Katherine and a sister, Vivian Voelkel of Covington, La.
A Memorial Services will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 3:30 PM at First United Methodist in Cherryville with Rev. Rick Fite and Rev. David Wyant. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:15 prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church 601 North Pink Street, Cherryville, NC 28021 or First United Methodist Church, 201 East Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
