Joyce Mcginnis

Joyce Elizabeth Quinn McGinnis, age 95 of 503 S. Elm St. passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Wendover Hospice. She was born September 22, 1923 in Gaston County to the late Eubern Morgan and Della Sigmon Quinn. Joyce was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a table parent at youth club, a volunteer, and on the evangelism committee. Joyce attended Lenior Rhyne College and retired from Cherryville National - BB&T. She enjoyed reading and cooking. Family and friends will especially miss her banana pudding. She was a caregiver to many and loved her family deeply.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Nita Ann McGinnis; granddaughter, Kara Elizabeth Sessoms; and sister, Ruth Long.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Sessoms and husband, Bill of Salemburg, NC; grandson, Will Sessoms of Arlington, VA; sister, Newell Alexander and husband, Don of Cherryville; and special caregiver, Marsha Farrell.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 4:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe and Rev. Joel Long officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3:00 to 3:45 PM prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
