Josephine Carpenter

Josephine Costner Carpenter, 77, of Baxter Rd., died Feb. 13, 2015 at Carolina Health Care Kings Mountain. She was born on March 31, 1937 in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Lester and Sally Costner Costner. Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker, a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and frequently visited Catawba Valley Hospice in Newton.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Clarence Emmit Carpenter, Jr, a sister Lela Hartman, and a brother Austin Costner.

Survivors include her son Edward Junior Carpenter and wife Karen of Waco, grandchildren Brad Edward Carpenter of Waco and Jeremy Allen Mahoney and wife Trisha of Boiling Springs NC, great grandchildren Mackenzie, Maddox, and Moira Mahoney, fiancée Johnnie "J. D." Buff of Hickory, and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 PM at Carpenters Funeral and Cremation Services, Cherryville with David Ellis presiding with burial to follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30-2:45 PM at the funeral home.
