John William Neil

John William “Johnny” Neil, age 87, of Kings Mountain, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, at his residence.  He was born May 31, 1936, in Cleveland County to the late Marcus Zone and Mattie Moore Neal.  Johnny was a skilled carpenter and talented artist. He loved wheel horse tractors and was known for his gardening. He was blessed with a wonderful marriage and a devoted wife who stayed by his side and took loving care of him during his extended illness. He had a beautiful smile and was loved beyond measure.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Sims Neil; sister, Ruby Neill Eaker (Quentin); brothers, Thomas “Babe” Neal, Buford Neil (Dot), Charles Neal, Giles Neill (Mae), Gerald “Chick” Neill; and brother-in-law, Marion “Chub” Sims (Gloria).

Survivors include his beloved wife of 25 years, Terri Bagwell Neil; sisters-in-law, Nancy Rockman (Bob), Janet Kennerly (Jimmy), and Sue Neill; brother-in-law, Eric Bagwell; father-in-law, Charles Leonard Bagwell; special friends, Sherry and Matt Nelson; honorary grandchildren, Rose and Allison Nelson;  and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 3, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Missionary Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw and Rev. Jerry Lail officiating.  Burial will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
