John Mcswain

Paul McSwain

John Paul McSwain, 94, of Oakleaf Dr. (Mary's Grove) died November 25, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Cleveland County on October 5, 1921, a son of the late D. Grover and Vessie Petty McSwain. Paul was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a part of the Dub Beam Sunday School Class. Paul proudly served in the US Army alongside the Tank division in Europe during WW II. He actively volunteered as a carpenter with the Baptist men and also enjoyed watching Nascar races, woodworking, and loved his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Clifford McSwain and Lillian Lee and two children Marsha Lee Glenn and Deedra B. Stephens.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Irene Lee Lynch McSwain; children, Roger Dale McSwain (Carolyn) of Shelby, Lydia Paulette McSwain of Shelby, Ralph P. Glenn (Lynda) of Shelby, and Barbara Beal Goodson (Steve) of Maiden. Ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. Burial to follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at the Church from 1:45 to 2:45 PM and at other times at the home.
