Mrs. Jo Eddie Beam Anderson, age 86, of Cherryville, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at her residence. Born in Cleveland County on June 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lee and Odelle Brinkley Beam. Jo was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Cherryville. She enjoyed sewing, reading, especially medical books, working with floral arrangements and decorating.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marla Alexander; two brothers, Murray Beam, Sr., and H.L. Beam, Sr.; and four sisters, Faith Edwards, Clara Wallace, Charity Williams, and Hope Setzer.

She is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Anderson; daughter, Lisa Joy Hawkins of Cherryville; step-children, Jon Scott Anderson (Brenda) of Newport News, VA, Deborah Jenkins of Hayes, VA, and Paul J. Anderson of Newport News, VA; brother, Don Beam of Kings Mountain; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 3:00 PM at First Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Mark B. Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Mary's Grove Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church, 800 N. Pink St, Cherryville, NC 28021.
