Jimmy Roger “Jim” Farris, age 72, of Moonlit Trail, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Heath House in Lincolnton. He was born June 3, 1948 in Cleveland County to the late Doris Clyde and Vergie Vida Whitworth Farris. Mr. Farris was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Vietnam. He loved baseball and enjoyed coaching his children in various sports. Jim was an avid fisherman and would even fish in a mud hole. He also enjoyed camping and later in life, he enjoyed lap quilting. He was the best daddy and the greatest “Papa” in the whole world.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jody Lynch; brothers, Clyde, Charles, and Sam; and sisters, Pauline, Shirley, Ruth, Helen, Nellie, Bertha, Margaret, and Fern.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Huskins Farris; children, William “B.J.” Russ (Denise) of Lincolnton, Wendy Mauney (Sam) of Cherryville, Kate Johnson (Chuck) of Lincolnton, LeAnn Self (Randy) of Cherryville, Teresa Farris (Michael Link) of Clover, SC, Charles Norman (Patty) of Maiden, Chris Kennedy of Gastonia, and Todd Farris (Traci) of Charlotte; thirteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Farris will lie-in-state on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:45 PM at Unity Baptist Church in Crouse. Due to COVID19, social distancing and face coverings will be observed.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Munday and Rev. Ricky Sigmon officiating. Burial will be private.
