Jerry Stroupe

Jerry Wilburn Stroupe, age 90, passed away at his home on September 13, 2024. Jerry was born on April 14, 1934, to the late Garland and Naomi Henkle Stroupe. Jerry was a member of First Presbyterian Church and an Elder Emeritus. He was also involved in the Men’s Bible Class. He was a graduate of Cherryville High School and attended Central School of Watchmaking. He was an Eagle Scout, and he was a football and track star in high school. Jerry was the proud owner of Stroupe’s Jewelry, and he was also a farmer. He once built a Gyro Copter. Jerry was truly a jack of all trades. He enjoyed working on cars, traveling, and camping. Jerry loved his wife Reita more than anything and cherished their marriage of over 60 years. 

 

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Reita Rae Black Stroupe.

 

Left to cherish his memory is his son, David Stroupe (Cindy); daughter, Donna Abee (Mark); brother, Johnny Stroupe (Brenda); sisters, Joann Weaver, and Janice Howell (Jim); grandchildren, Addison Kozlowski (Mike), Elliot Abee, Isaac Abee, Taylor Gavigan (John), Mary Catherine Cochran (Brooks), and Caroline Stroupe; and great-grandchildren, Kruz Kozlowski, and Koby Kozlowski.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:45 PM, in the Fellowship Hall, prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private.
