Jerry Jefferies

Jerry Lee "Skeet" Jefferies, age 63, of Old Post Rd. passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born April 2, 1953 in Cleveland County to the late Elizabeth Jeffries. He worked at Carroll's Dairy, Hoyle Construction and Beam Construction. Jerry enjoyed outside work and farming. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan and was a Tarheel Fan who tolerated Duke. Skeet loved music, walking, and was a very genuine and authentic man. He never had a harsh word to say to anyone and was always himself.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by two sons, Justin Jefferies and John Jeffries; and three sisters, Brenda Jeffries, Teresa Tuft and Carolyn Jeffries.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Betsy Carroll Jefferies; children, Jerry Jr. (Tonya), Jonah (Sherron), Jamel, Jerome, and Maria Jeffries, Kellie (Stevlien) and Ashley Jefferies; siblings, Larry (Ruby), Jesse and Cherylene Jeffries; Mother-in-law, Frances Carroll; fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Travis Mull and Rev.Tony Giles officiating. Burial will follow at the Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
