Jean Avery Black

Barbara “Jean” Avery Black, age 86, of Cherryville, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Cardinal Care in Lincolnton.  She was born July 24, 1937 in Lincoln County to the late William Marshall and Floy Schronce Avery.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard “Jr.” Black; and siblings, J.W. John William Avery, Nellie Sue Killian, Joanne Avery Hart, and Bobby Steele Avery.

Survivors include her brother, Donald Wilson Avery; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Huss officiating.
