Janet Shook

Janet Sue Carpenter Shook, 66, of Long Shoals Rd., died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center - Gastonia. She was born in Cabarrus County on June 17, 1949 to the late Boyd Hampton and Nellie Pauline Hinson Carpenter. Janet was employed as a case worker for Gaston County DSS and was also a Girl Scout Leader. She attended Bethel Lutheran Church and was active in the Women of Bethel. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking, bingo, and playing crazy canasta.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Pete, Ron, and Bill Carpenter.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Larry Shook; daughter, Courtney Shook of Lincolnton; sisters, Carolyn Connelly and husband, Richard of Cherryville and Betty Smith and David Bristol of Kannapolis; numerous nieces and nephews; and a granddog named Cooper.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 2:00PM at Bethel Lutheran Church with Pastor Steven King and Rev. Gerald Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:45PM prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home.
