Janet Carpenter Sellers

Janet Carolyn Carpenter Sellers, age 89, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Highland Heights. She was born March 23, 1935, in Gaston County, to the late Charlie Sidney and Edith Holland Carpenter. Janet was a 1953 graduate of Tryon High School and a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School for 55 years and was a member of Martha Goebel ECA Club. Janet retired from Wix Corp and was a volunteer with Caromont for 22 years. Her favorite hobby was talking. She loved to socialize and spend time with friends and family. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Oneda Sellers Harbin, Kenny Ray Sellers, and Carol Sellers Balance; and brothers, Harold Carpenter and Jerry Carpenter. 

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Jahna Sellers of Orlando, FL; son-in-law, Ken Harbin and wife, Gail of Belmont; sister, Doris Sellers and husband, Harold of Gastonia; grandchildren, Nicolas Sellers and wife, Jennifer, Ashley Sellers, Will Harbin and wife, Traci; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Carter, and Auden Sellers, Joseph and James Harbin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Minister Brad Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 PM, prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the home of Harold and Doris Sellers.
