James Snyder

March 30, 1928 — February 10, 2016

James Osborne Snyder, age 87, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 30, 1928 in Rutherford County to the late James Henry and Julia Mattie Mae Sisk Snyder. James was an able bodied Seaman, owning and operating his own shrimp boat. He was retired from the U.S Army and affiliated with American Legion Post 100. James enjoyed watching the History Channel and was a fan of the T.V show; Wicked Tuna.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Mattie Watts Snyder; and a daughter, Mary Helen Sale.

Survivors include his son, Carl Greene, Sr. and wife, Natalie of Kings Mountain; Daughters, Joanne Walker of Forest City, Betty Jean Brooks and husband, Bobby of Forest City; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Following the service, burial will be held at 2:30 PM at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Forest City with full military honors. Family will receive friends 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM prior to the service at Second Baptist Church.
