James Smith

December 20, 1926 — March 9, 2014

James Edward Smith, 87, of Blue Tick Lane, died Sunday March 9, 2013 at Brian Resources in Lincolnton. Mr. Smith was born in Durham Co. on Dec. 20, 1926 a son of the late John and Gertrude Bane Smith. He was a dairy farmer and retired from Pharr Yarns. He faithfully and honorable served his country in the US Army during WW II.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Margie Nolen Smith in 2012, son Paul Smith, grandsons Mark and Clayton Smith and two brothers.

Survivors include his daughters Becky Self and Phyllis Hammonds(James), both of Dallas, sons William Smith(Jane), Dallas, Ronnie Smith(Debbie), Woodruff, SC, Garry Smith(Charlotte), Bishop, TX, Brian Smith, Dallas, and John Smith(Regina) Dallas, sixteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and a brother John Smith(Betty) Lincolnton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 PM at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. John Johnson officiating with burial in Hardin Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 1:30-2:45 PM and at other times at the home of William and Jane Smith, 235 Poplar Hill Rd., Dallas, NC
