James Hord

James Ben Hord, age 90 of Crouse Rd. passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare System - Lincoln. He was born December 1, 1927 in Cleveland County to the late Loren and Ellen Houser Hord. Ben was a member of Crouse United Methodist Church. He retired from Southern Bell after 33 years of service. J.B. was also a Veteran who proudly served his country in three branches, Army, Navy, and Air Force. He was an outdoorsman and loved riding around on his lawn mower. He enjoyed playing cards and adored his cat, Bugsy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jesse Ruth Noles Hord; and siblings, Sloan, Louise, Barkley, and Carl David Hord.

Survivors include his sons, Alan Lewis Hord and wife, Jane of Mt. Airy and Larry James Hord and wife, Kathy of Vale; grandchildren, Kristen Hudson (Ricky), Neil Hord, Jennifer Hord, and Matthew Hord; several great grandchildren; siblings, Charles Hord, Bobby Joe Hord (Betty), Willa Bryte Painter, Luann Gamble, and Brenda Morrow (Keith); and good friends, Lindsey and Tracy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Crouse United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 AM prior to the service at the church.
