James Palmer Henley, 70, of 3963 Hwy 182, died Jan. 14, 2015 at his residence. He was born on March 17, 1944 in Lincoln Co., a son of the late Andrew Jackson and Willie Maude Boggs Henley.
Jim was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Lincolnton retired from Carolina Freight Carriers, and member of Teamsters Local # 61. He found great pleasure in watching his garden grow and enjoyed watching and participating in all forms of sports, especially watching his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Rachel "Jean" Beal Henley, daughters Myra Smith, Lincolnton, Jennifer Bowen, Lincolnton and L.J. Dycus, Lincolnton sons James P. Henley, II of Lincolnton, A. J. Henley (Teresa), Cherryville, John Henley (Rhonda),Hickory, and Josh Henley (Cheryl), Lincolnton, nine grandchildren, Patrick, Laure, Krissie, Olivia, Aly, Bayleigh, Brooke, Todd, Grace and two great grandchildren, Caleb and Carson Bowen, three brothers Frank Henley (Dana) Cherryville, Tim Henley (Deborah), Cherryville, and Jack Henley (Jeanette) Cherryville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held Sunday at 4 PM at City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Moore officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday at Carpenter's Funeral and Cremation Services from 2:00 -3:45 PM and at other times at the home.
