James Bowyer

September 29, 1938 — January 16, 2015

James Rodney Bowyer, age 76, of Mark Street, died January 16, 2015 Cleveland Region Hospital. He was born September 29, 1938 Oak Hill, West VA, a son the late Roderick Washington and Glenna Miller Bowyer. Rodney was retired after thirty-two years as Assistant Manager over Composing with the Charlotte Observer and formerly a typesetter for the Cherryville Eagle. He was a graduate of Tennessee Printing School and was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Men's Bible Class, the Presbyterian Men and Care Team and member of Malcolm's Liars Club. Rodney was a Tar Heel Fan, Gardner Webb Baseball fan and he loved animals.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Faye Coyle Bowyer in 2008, a daughter, Julie Ann Bowyer, a sister Bonnie Summers, a grandson, Braeden Bowyer.

Survivors include three sons, Taylor Bowyer and Benita Stroup, Chuck Bowyer and Sabrina, Shannon Bowyer and Missy Helms all of Cherryville, five grandchildren, Stephanie , Alan, Rainie, Wesley and Ashley Bowyer, three sisters; Louise Mitchell of Concord, Mary Rock, Mansfield, OH, Shirley Perdue, Mansfield, OH.

Memorial service will held Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe and Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends January 20, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
